I paint the environment that is natural to me. Having lived in Whitefish Falls for most of my youth and being surrounded by the La Cloche Mountains, I feel an intimate connection with the rock I retreated to so often. The sprawling mountains of jagged and smooth rocks continue to provide the solitude I require as an artist to inspire my ongoing series of landscapes. As an artist, my intent is to depict a sense of calmness and strength in my landscapes. Whether it is a lone tree, a rugged cliff, or an oddly placed boulder set among a barren formation, each personifies a grounding presence.
